Vladimir Putin did something remarkable, amazing, genius, and at the same time really stupid. He wrote an op-ed for the New York Times criticizing the U.S. position on Syria. Other articles on the web will provide you with the exact text, but in a nutshell...

Putin believed enough in the average American's lack of critical thought that he tried to use our free press to hold our professed standards up as a mirror and proclaim we aren't living up to them. Having miscalculated, he now finds the U.S. turning that mirror around and firing back, "Neither are you." He wants to portray himself as a down-to-earth, peace and love, child of the world, which back home he has passed laws criminalizing homosexuality and stamping out freedom of the press (Irony, you have a call on line 1) while rattling his saber as loud as he pompously can and releasing photo spreads of himself doing outdoor manly things with no shirt on.

What a jackass.

Mr. Putin, no one anywhere is buying your op-ed. Some of it was lifted straight from "Newsroom" scripts, and the rest was lies and posturing. You are too obvious, sir.

You can put your shirt back on now.
