On December 31, 2006 I purchased a brand new 07 Mustang Coupe from Landers Mclarty Ford.
After the finance department added about $3500 for extended warranty, GAP insurance ?? and
life insurance, again ?? the quoted price of $18,087 became $21,000+ and I drove off the lot. All
the added costs came with a 30 day no-fee cancellation period. I sent the life insurance company
and GAP insurance company written notice of my cancellations by registered mail within the 30
day free trial period. The refunds did not appear on my Ford Credit for months while all the time I am
paying finance charges for these fees. The extended Warranty is even worse. It requires you to go
to the dealership and sign a document about the current mileage and the dealership is supposed to
handle it from there. I followed all the cancellation directions on my contract and did this on Jan
24th 2007. Well I wait a month and I still don’t see the $1776 credit on my Ford Credit payment
summary. So I call the dealership and ask whats going on. The finance guy (Chuck) say it takes a
few months sometimes so I wait another month for my statement to arrive. Again no credit for any of
the cancelled services. So I call the dealership again and the finance guy who I was working with is
on vacation and no one has any record of this cancellation procedure ever taking place on the 24th
of January. So I have to go to the dealership once again (50 miles away) and sign yet another mileage
form but now it states a higher mileage and I am told that I will not be receiving the original $1776 as
now it goes into pro-rating because its not within the 30 day trial period and I now have excessive
mileage. I finally get $1500 from them. Now to the mechanical problems. I have about 3000 miles on
this new car and the Universal Joints on the driveshaft are going bad and make a bad clunking and
squeaking noise. Not to mention the area around the passenger floorboard fills up with water
whenever it rains or I wash the car. I did some investigation while trying to dry out the carpet and
pad and found that the SmartJunctionBox is located right below the leaking area. This device
controls everything from the headlights, taillights, the brake lights, instrument cluster and the like.
Now I have electrical problems with just about everything. I also have troubles filling the gas tank
as it will spray full back at you if you fill it too fast. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get a full tank.
Upon searching the web for Technical Service Bulletins I have found one for just about every
problem I am having. The bulletins pertain to 05, 06 and 07 models with most of the problems being
found on the 05 but are still present with the 07 model. Come on Ford, learn from your mistakes and
fix the problems.
This was my first new car and it will be my LAST FORD anything.
Thanks for your time
Blake
