Subject: More problems with a Ford Mustang
Date: 1/9/2003
To Whom it may concern.
I am contacting you today to let you and everyone know that they should
never purchase a Ford Mustang, and of my great concern over the quality of
the workmanship that Ford puts into their new vehicles and of the ongoing
trend of mechanical faults on my car.
I purchased my 2000 Mustang GT new and since that time I have had the
following faults repaired/replaced under the warranty:
July 2001 Idle Air Control Motor fault,
March 2002 Parking Brake not releasing,
April 2002 Rear Axle / Drive Line Faults,
May 2002 Rear Differential Problems,
September 2002 Rear Brakes Seized,
December 2002 More Rear Differential Problems,
January 2003 Major Oil leak/cracked Engine Block.
I wouldn't mind all these problems if the car had been greatly modified, and
was being raced every weekend. The car is as stock today as it was when I
drove it off the dealership lot, nothing has been done to this car. Now
that the warranty is almost up I am getting rid of it and never purchasing a
Ford again!

I wrote Bruce to ask him if the dealership had dealt with him fairly,
and replied:
Mr. Grigsby
The truth be told I haven't had any problems dealing with the
Dealerships with regards to workmanship. I go in drop off the car for the
work to be completed, they provide me with a vehicle to drive while they
have mine. My only concern is the quality Ford is putting into their
vehicles at the factory level... I have had many conversations with several
Ford representatives at a number of Ford dealerships, the conclusion they
draw it that this is a fluke situation, and the Mustangs are one of the
least problematic vehicles out on the market today, so I have now escalated
my concerns to the General Manager of the Customer Relationship Centre, and
I will continue to escalate and go to the media with my story until Ford
accepts the responsibility and provides assistance.
On a side note
A friend of mine today came to me and informed me that his new 2003 Ford
Escape with only 4500km's on it has to already go into the shop for warranty
work. It appears that the Steering system is defective and requires
replacing.
