I purchased my new 4x2 Ranger Edge on October 25, 2003. This was the first
and will be the last Ford I will ever buy.
On 12-23-03 the radiator hoses were leaking. The truck had 1,607 miles on
it. Service advisor blamed it on the robots at the factory saying that the
hoses were cut by the robots when assembled. He must have stayed up all
night coming up with that one.
On November 20, 2004 I had to have some small paint problems taken care of.
I had 8,898 miles on the truck.
On July 14, 2006 the truck was leaking transmission fluid. They replaced the
transmission converter assembly. The truck had 21,820 miles on it.
On December 5, 2006 I took the truck in for service due to a problem with
vibration in the steering. I asked the service advisor if they were having
any problems with wheel bearings. She said only with vehicles with high
mileage. My truck had 25,374 miles on it. I was expecting the diagnosis to
be a problem with the brakes or rotors. The problem was LOOSE WHEEL
BEARINGS! I asked that the wheel bearings be replaced under the extended
warranty. I was told that the bearings were not bad but only loose and would
not be replaced. I had to pay to have them repacked and tightened. When I
told the service advisor that I was not happy about this and that my overall
experience with this truck has not been very good, her reply was that "I
don't build them". That's when I told her that I can see why Ford sales were
down another 9% this year and was outsold by Toyota in the USA.
These people just don't get it. It will not dawn on them about their
products and their attitudes until the lights go out at Ford Headquarters
and at all of their dealers.
