Hi Todd: Well, here is my story. I bought a 2001 Ford truck in March
of 2003. It only had 20,000 miles on it. Before I bought it I used
Carfax to make sure everything was ok with the truck. It was. Anyway,
cutting to the chase, I noticed this year 2005, that my paint was
chipping all over! I took it to the dealer and he said "oh, they won't
pay for that"(Ford that is) . The man in charge of service said that
when the Ford rep comes in he would call me. Of course, no call, so I
called him back and he said, "oh, she said they won't pay for it." I
said, Well, she didn't even look at it. He said it doesn't matter, they
will not pay for it. For all she knows it could have been painted
before. I proceeded for the past month to go to the manager and to make
a long story short, I talked to him today, and he said she will not
cover it because it is a used vehicle. I went to several body shops and
they clearly say it is defective primer, and that they should cover it.
Right now, I don't know what else to do. I read your rules, and did
call him back and ask for it in writing, and I also asked if there was
anyone above him I could talk to. This is so frustrating. A new paint
job quoted to me will be over $5,000 to $7,000. I am beside myself.
What are your suggestions??? I appreciate any advice you have for me.
Thanks for listening. Dolly
