Hi there and thank you for your time and outrage.
My 2001 ford explore air bag light began flashing a while ago. When i
took it in (to a dealership) to be checked i was informed that it would
be 1500 Canadian to fix. I was told by the mechanic that he had seen
the problem before.
The Problem:
Ford cheaped out on the soldering of the wiring carriage that houses the
connection for the air bags! the solders are weak and brittle and prone
to breaking. How do they break you ask? General driving. No big
bumps, no collisions, just everyday driving!
My response if these solders break under such mundane conditions what
would happen if per say you were to i don't know.... hit a tree! a car!
anything more then a rock on the road!!!!!!
I have been trying to get answers from ford but alias and to anybody's
surprise they have no idea about the problem.
You know if they had cheaped out on the radio knob i might not be so
disgusted but the airbags come on.
If anyone else has run into this i feel your pain. I have not paid the
money as of yet because i want to be sure that it is not some quick fix
in reality. I know that when i start the truck the airbag light flashes
a code 36 if this is of any use.
thank you and rage on maybe but some freak of corporate nature we might
be heard and satisfied.
