I bought a brand new 2004 Ford F-250 in April 04. I had heard horror stories of the 6.0 engine, but
had read that they had worked the bugs out of it. Well, I loved my truck and sang nothing but
praises of it....until. In September 2005, I was pulling trailers for FEMA, all weighing betweeen
6,000 and 9,000 pounds, well within the weight limits of the truck. My engine developed a ticking
sound. The Ford dealer said it sounded like something minor, probably a lifter out of spec. Well
I left it with them, and 3 weeks later I still don't have th truck back. It turns out that it had an
exhaust valve malfunction, and it ruined the motor. So at 14,000 miles on the odometer Ford is
replacing my motor. What really burns me up is the lack of customer service from Ford's
customer relations department. I was not offered and type of realistic vehicle loaner, and Ford
really acts as if they are doing me a favor to repair it. I am out of work, and have lost a
documented $7500 to date. I lose $500 every day the truck sits in the shop. Since this fiasco
started I have spoken to numerous other 6.0 owners who have had similar horror stories. One
guy is on his 4th motor on his 04. I have always been a loyal Ford customer, but after this
ordeal I doubt I'll ever buy another Ford. In fact, I am in the process of organizing a class
action suit against Ford right now. They know there are major problems with the 6.0, that's
why they're scrapping it after only a 3.5 year run. My e-mail is faultyfrord@comcast.net if you
have had similar problems and are interested in suing Ford.
