MY TRUCK IS (WAS) MY BABY. I loved that thing so much. My Beautiful burgandy
2002 F150 purchased Dec 2001was my first new and first car in my name alone.
Within the first year I noticed something was not right.
1- the first time I noticed something wrong I was driving in town doing
about 35-40 miles and I had to slow down for traffic. When I started
speeding back up again the truck jerked so hard it felt like someone rear
ended it. I would have thought nothing of this if it was a manual but this
is an automatic transmission. It did it several more times that week. I took
it in and they said they couldn't get it to do it. So they couldn't fix it.
2-Took it in 3-4 more times for the same thing in the 1st year. Again Ford
found nothing.
3-Check engine light came on and transmission still jerking. Now truck is
idling rough and not shifting correctly. Ford found nothing...but they did
turn off the check engine light.
Got a letter from Almighty Ford itself telling me about the cruise control
switch. Called ford here and they told me to bring it in whenever and they
will fix it (keep this in mind will come back to it)
4-May 2005 took truck into ford to have everything checked because I was
going to Ohio (I live in georgia) to visit my sister (baby due). I asked
them to check fluids and tires and fix the cruise control recall. No problem
they said. Get a call the next day..need new battery..OK GOOD....need new
tires...OK..But way too much..got them at tires plus for A LOT LESS...OK
NEXT..."your truck is not covered for that recall".....What???...OK...I got
the letter from ford, I called and asked about it and gave them my truck
info and they said bring it in...OK..OK so it isn't covered..so I won't get
it done.
Drove to Ohio..no problems other than the usual 1, 2 and 3 above (minus
check engine)
Driving back from ohio was a different story
Everything was FINE for maybe 100 miles. I turned on my cruise control which
I had not used in a long time (I actually never use it but the road was
clear). Stopped for gas and then ALL HELL broke loose. The truck would not
speed up at all. I FLOORED THE Damn thing trying to get back on the highway
from the ramp and it was not even doing 40 the rpm went past 4. The whole
way back it was like that. If I slowed down too much it took forever to
speed back up. Seriously I was afraid because by then it was storming, dark,
mountains and LOTs of trucks on the highway.
Get back home in 1 piece thank God. Make an appointment with ford to check
it out. But before I had a chance to go
5-my BF was driving the truck to work and he calls me up and tells me
something serious is wrong with the truck "CAn you hear that"..Damn thing
sounded like a Lawn Mower. He parks it at work and checks it out. The spark
plug blew out of the head..(sound Familiar) Anyway I'm cool right I have the
top of the line "extended warranty". call my extended warranty road side and
they tow to warner robins ford lincoln mercury (dealer).this is around 9am
on Wed July 20.
I get a call from them around 4 or 5pm. Telling me the cylinder head needs
to be replaced because the spark plug did something to the threads and...hey
I'm not a mechanic... something about the plug caused the damage and it
isn't a factory plug and who ever put it in must have done something wrong
and ford won't cover it and it is going to cost $2800. WHAT THE HELL. Hey I
can't afford that crap I'm a single mom who just happens to be betwn jobs
right now. Any way called ford company up and they said the same $#!^. So
what am I going to do. I was mad at my BF who is a mechanic for screwing up
my truck(he replaced the plug that blew). I searched the web and found
HUNDREDS of people with the same problem
(http://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=103042 and
other sites) so why is it not covered if is happeneing everywhere.I am going
to try the STEEL INSERT at
http://www.timesert.com/html/ford_sparkplug_faq.html....Hope it works. Sign
me up for Class Action Suit. I am going to try and trade the thing for a
Dodge. Never buying a ford again.

I had to appologize to my BF he wasn't the idiot Ford is.
