Hi Todd,

Here's another story for you. It's about my Ford 2002 Taurus and the =
Engine Check Lite...just won't go out!

It started in October, 2006, with the car having a squealing sound from =
time to time, like a bearing going bad in a water pump. Upon listening =
closer under the hood, the noise was coming from the center top, towards =
the back, under a black shroud. Took it to the local Ford =
dealership..car has a warranty for 5 years or 100,000 miles..which is =
great, I think. Anyway, it was the synchronizer assy, DA2089,which I =
thought it would be by my using Google and the problem. They changed the =
Cam Shaft Sensor, the whole gear thing. I also had radiator flush and =
oil change. Anyway, went home and the next day, drove around and saw the =
engine check lite on. I checked Google and said it could be gas cap (as =
what the driver's guide said). Put original cap back on..I bought a =
lockable Ford gas cap months back. Drove a few weeks as the book =
said..no change. So, took it into Ford.

At the garage, code 1336 showed up. This was November 16. They said the =
synchronizer might have been put in wrong..set the engine to top dead =
center..found the sync off position. Reset sync. Tested and no more =
engine light while testing in the garage. I picked up the car, started =
it, the engine lite came on and showed the tech.

Nov 17..could not find problem. I told tech I'll be back after the =
holiday...car does drive just fine and get good gas mileage..even drove =
to Disneyland!

Dec 5...in shop all day
Dec 6...thinks it's alternator
Dec 7...not alternator
Dec 13..Dealership E-Mailing Ford Tech line
Dec 29..No E-Mail results..tech will re-check with E-mail
Jan 8....nothing back yet
Waited all of January for a call back from dealership...
Feb 2..Car in all day...PCM and wiring harness checked..nothing found.

So am "patiently" waiting for a call from the tech that they have =
something.....

Who do I contact at Ford? It'll never pass smog test.

Thanks, Todd

Sincerely,

Jim E
