Subject: Ford problems

Hi Angel,

I'm so very sorry to hear about you're husband's accident. May God
watch over you and you're family.

I too have problems with a Ford vehicle. Namely a 1996 Ford Escort
LX. Was you're husband's vehile an automatic or manual? The Ford
Escort I'm driving is a manual.

When I'm driving on the freeway, if I shift my car out of gear and
into neutral, the RPM gauge will fall to zero and my motor will
turn off on me even while going 65 mph (RPM gauge for any car should
never hit zero once the motor is running unless there's a serious
problem). The radio and fan are still on even after this has happened.
The only way I keep my motor from turning off on me is by not letting
my rpm gauge to hit zero. I'm pretty sure if I were driving a much
bigger Ford vehicle I probably would get into an accident because
once the motor turns off the powersteering won't kick in.

I did a diagnostic on the car myself (my gf bought the car less than
a year ago and it's been in the shop about 6-8 times already) and
discovered the ignition has to be replaced. At this point i'm digusted
of Ford because I've had to replace and fix so many things on this
car you probably wouldn't believe it. I'm from San Diego, CA and
I've called several dealerships which quoted me at around $300 for
the ignition.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to get it fixed right now because I
just spent a few hundred dollars last week on the same car because
it was overheating. And this was done at a local radiator shop rather
than a Ford dealership, (which tried to charge me a hell of a lot
more.) They even tried to get me to replace a radiator which is really
expensive. The radiator shop I took it to tested the radiator and
it was perfectely fine. The only thing that had to be replaced were
the relays and thermostat.

Right now, because it's not very reliable to drive, I'm driving the
Ford Escort while my girlfriend is driving my Acura Integra... Hondas,
Acura, and Toyotas are the most reliable cars, I never have problems
with them, and if I do, it's really easy to find parts and mechanics
that can get the job done right the first time. I've did my research
and read other peoples complaints, Ford is one of the worst companies
out there. They rather save $4 dollars per vehicle rather than relocate
the ignition to prevent damadge from overheating by the motor.

Ford has been having ignition problems for years and their callous
appetite for profits have cost the lives of so many people......I
hope Ford goes bankrupt!

Always,

Jimmy
