Hi Todd,

My name is Joanna. My mom, Jennifer and Mike (my stepfather) just bought
a 1999 Ford Ranger at the end of September 2000. It had never been titled
before and only had about 200 miles on it when they took it home. On
January 11, 2001, they were coming back from getting my stepbrother David
in Sandusky, Ohio to Marion, Ohio, when they hit black ice and slid in the
truck. They then hit a ditch and proceeded to flip the truck end over end
in a field. The door flew open and my mom was ejected from the truck.
She has a broken wrist, collar bone, shoulder blade, many ribs (one punctured
her lung), three vertebrae in the thoraxic section of her back and three
vertebrae in the cervical section of her neck. The doctors have said that
she will never walk again. I have check with alldata.com and there was a
service bulletin on the truck that said replace or repair all lock components.
Obviously that was not done. But not only did the door fly open but the air
bags in it did not activate. She is still in icu at the hospital. My
stepfather has already started contacting his lawyer on this. I personally
own a 1991 Ford Probe and will be getting rid of it as soon as is possible.
It also has many problems. I really do think that your website is a good
thing. I do not like Ford and will probably buy a Honda or some other foreign
car this time.

Thanks,

Joanna
