2004 Ford Taurus

I have a 2004 Tauraus with Duratec 3.0 liter engine. I have had a
series of episodic problems with the car beginning about 19,000 miles
driven. Ford, under warranty, has replaced the CPU, an alternator, all
6 coils and half a wiring harness. The vehicle still looses power, the
engine flutters and I eventually (sometimes takes a week) get a check
engine light. Always, the code when read indicates all 6 coils have
kicked-out. The Ford dealership has stood behind the vehicle with
rentals and the Ford engineers are unable to figure-out the problem as
these are episodic events (happening every 6,000 to 10,000 miles) and
they can't replicate the event or have it do it to them on the road.
My experience with a 2003 Taurus with was that the engine and all
systems would lose power/stop. It was frightening to be on the highway
at night in traffic and have the car go completely dead and without
lights. Ford engineers couldn't find this problem either. This started
with an alternator going bad, then the CPU was replaced and then 6-7
tows after loss of power. The dealership eventually bought back the
car. What I'm getting around to is that the Ford Motor Company never
stood behind either car, instead forcing the dealership to. I have
decided that with the current 2004 model, that if any member of my
family is hurt, killed or an accident occurs where the car loses power,
I intend to sue Ford and have kept a record of all the service
statements should that ever become necessary. I would be interested to
know if anybody else has had similar experiences as the Ford engineers
have told the dealership they haven't experienced anything like this
before. Again, the dealership has been great, Ford clearly doesn't
care.
