Ford is the worse trucks I have ever seen which includes the trucks,
the Service Centers, Fleet Service Centers and the leadership as well. I
purchased five e series 2003 7.3 diesels trucks to start a business in
South Carolina. I purchased one 2004 6.0 diesel truck as well. These
trucks purchased in support of the business were 100% responsible for
shutting that business down. The trucks were in the shop from August
2003 through July 2005 in excess of 369 days. This company depended on
these trucks 100% to support its customers in delivering products on a
daily basis. The trucks worsened week to week as of the 369 days the
trucks were in the shop over 315 of those days came from January 2005
through July 29, 2005 when Ford Motor forced this company to closure due
to the lack of support with a safe and reliable truck. The 6.0s were
recalled for stalling and a lack of power this year and the 7.3s have
the exact issue as does the 6.os but due to the cost of recalls Ford
Motor Company has elected to allow customers and operators to take these
dangerous trucks on highways every day knowingly placing their customers
and the public in serious danger. Ford has known and concealed this
information from its customers placing all the liabilities of these
unsafe trucks on the customers if a serious accident should occur. The e
series 2003 and 2004 7.3s and 6.0s are junk and the down time of these
trucks is proof that Ford has no clue as to a fix for this ongoing
safety problem with their products. In the recall of the 6.0s Ford has
made two additional changes to the fix after the recall was issued
showing the lack of knowledge to repair their defective products. The
six trucks that were owned by this company have had injectors replaced,
oil pressure issues, water in gas problems and three of the six were
delivered with the water in gas light on, electrical issues causing
lights to blow internally as well as externally, goes through batteries
faster than a flash light, blown head gaskets and warped heads and many
other smaller issues. The most dangerous problems were related to brakes
where again a recall was issued by Ford and the loss of power and
stalling that makes these trucks a lethal weapon on the highways. These
trucks lose power and drop in speeds from 65 to 70 mph down to 30 to 40
mph in seconds and without any type of warning to the driver. These
trucks place the driver and the public in danger as these trucks are
pulled off the road to avoid accidents. When the driver does get these
trucks off the road they still are a threat to the public and can still
cause a serious accident to occur. When these trucks stall as they are
being operated it is almost impossible for the driver to handle them as
they seek safety on the side of the road. This is a major problem for
anyone beside or behind the truck when this issue occurs. My drivers
have encountered several close calls with other motorist as they were
forced to seek a safe place to park and wait for assistance. This one is
for the record, a serious accident will occur due to these defective
trucks and someone will encounter a serious accident where someone
sustains serious injury or even a loss of life.
I have written to the CEO of Ford, Mr... William Clay Ford, Jr three
times in reference to these issues, placed in excess of twenty e-mails
to the Ford Customer Service Departments, discussed these issues with
the Fleet Customer Service Department and have had the Ford
Representative working these issues discuss the problems directly with
Ford yet nothing was done and my company was forced to closure. The lack
of concern by Ford Motor Company to its customer, its products, the
safety of the operators of these dangerous vehicles or for the safety of
the general public that share the highways with these trucks on a daily
basis.. I have sent three separate complaints to NHTSA, written a formal
complaint to the S.C. Attorney Generals Office, sent a formal complaint
to the S.C. Consumer Affairs Office and have discussed this safety issue
with several independent agencies as to my concern for the customers of
these 2003 and 2004 trucks, to drivers that operate these vehicles on a
daily basis and for the general public that share the highways used by
these defective trucks. These known defects by Ford yet concealed has
been known as far back as 2001 yet they allow this to continue. Ford has
no fix for this problem as evident from the continuous downtime I have
experienced first hand. When my business was forced to closure on July
29, 2005 five of the six trucks were in the shop for repair and two of
them had been in the shop in excess of twenty days at that time. One
truck for a blown head gasket that turned into a warped head and the
other four for loss of power and stalling conditions. These five trucks
in the shop at closure are not in the 369 days of down time already
experienced.
It is beyond me to understand how a company like Ford Motor can
continue to get away with behavior like this. To knowingly sell
defective products that they know can cause a serious accident or a loss
of life. It makes me sick to read how they lie, conceal evidence, play
the courts, Judges and Juries as if they are above the law. They sell
and refuse to assist people that placed their trust and even their
families in their expertise to manufacture a safe and reliable product
for highway use or to support someone's business. This is as close to
criminal as one can get and still walk around free or with a slap on the
hand. People die every day due to this type of neglect and this will
happen again and the cause will relate to the ongoing problems with the
loss of power or stalling associated with these trucks. In the case of
the 6.0s and the 7.3 the name that fits them well is DIESels.
