Subject: 2001 TAURUS (Problem fast idle)
Date: 7/12/2004
I purchased a new 2001 Taurus and found that the car has a very fast idle and would
actually just take off and go without putting your foot on the gas and actually
reach 35-45 miles an hour without ever touching the gas. This actully makes the car
hard to control and dangerous in tight spaces since constant braking is required
and very unpleasant to drive.
I presented this problem to the dealership where I purchased the car and they test
drove the car and the mechanic and service manager actually agreed with me after
driving the car. However, they were unable to repair the car because the car showed
up as normal when it was tested on the computer. Well after months of back and forth
with the dealership I contacted Ford and had the area service manager test the car
which came back and said there was nothing wrong with car. Wooh! what a shock since
the mechanic and service manager had agreed that the car was abnormal. But guess
what, they had a sudden case of memory loss and they changed their mind and
indicated the car was normal.
This case is a very long story but I will try and condense the result. After about
a year of fighting with Ford motor company and two different dealerships and
actually taking Ford to court through the lemon law I finally gave up. I even found
and had access to service buttetin that indicated there was a problem with my engine
that would make the car idle fast. But in the final result Ford Motor Company would
do absolutely nothing to repair the car or admit that there was anything wrong with
the car. I must say that I had more support from the dealership than I did from Ford
Motor Company because when I got Ford involved in my problem nothing was solved.
I can truthfully say that Ford Motor Company has the worst customer service
department and attitude I have ever dealt with and they are of absolutely no value.
And that Ford Motor Company does not value the customer more than they would a piece
of dirt.
