2001 Ranger.. Built Ford Tough??????

Date:
I have a 2001 Ranger with the 4 cyl engine, when this little oddsey
started it had just under 30K on the clock.
The vehicle is used only for errands around town, and is was serviced
as per the factory recomendations.. you would think it would make it a
little farther past the warranty period,... you would be wrong.
All "work" performed at Miller Brothers Ford Ellicott City . Md.
8/11/05 29,496 The truck fails to start.. New clutch saftey switch
installed $195 not warranty "over 3 years"
at the same time thinking this is a isolated incident I have
the 30,000 mile service done to the tune of $375..
A little steep..yea they did a few "extra things" "but she
is good to go"
11/8/05 31,382 Check engine light is on... The replace the mass air
sensor and do a few other "checks" $593
11/18/05 31,591 on again..unknown sensor is replaced
1/2/06 31, 852" It's back" replace TB gaskets and O2 sensor.. Um
perhaps the computer is bad? " NO..hey these things can be hard to fix
"
2/27/06 32,881 On again.."OK we will order a module..and put a flight
recorder on it" After a week/10 days they call to ask if the light
is on ..
why yes it is.."OK bring it in for the module"..a few
days later they call and inform me that the "zone rep" has looked in
to the problem
and they will not be installing the module, but in fact
Ford has determined that the intake manifold is cracked, and that it
will not be covered under the 12 month warranty for the "check engine"
repair but will be "good willed" for "only" $300 additional
Needless to say I have had enough..of course they write me up with a
refusal to have "good will" repair performed, and wash their hands of
the whole mess..
Total result..Vehicle off road for 10 days resulting in 5 days of lost
wages, out of pocket expense of $600 for the check engine light
(vehicle cannot be smog checked in MD with light on) and 600 for
other services. All on a vehicle that is barley 5 years old and has
less than 35,000 miles on it,and will eventualy be undrivable as the
crack expands; and /or emissions becomes due. I would hate to see the
bills of some one who actually worked the truck in the manner that Ford
advertises!
