Hi,
I'm beginning to think that I'm the only one who has ever bought a Mustang and regretted it. For 2 years after college, I scrimped and saved to buy what I thought was my dream car -- a 1998 Ford Mustang V6. Boy am I an idiot!
For the first year the car was everything I wanted it to be -- fast, comfortable, easy to handle. Then when August of 1997 hit, all hell broke loose. I started experiencing vibrations in the interior of the car -- the steering wheel shook so hard at 55 - 65 mph that my hand was numb!! -- and a violent shimmy when braking from a high rate of speed. When I attempted to take it to a dealer to get it fixed, I was told repeatedly "it's the tires...they need to be balanced" or "it's the tires....you need an alignment". This went on from August to October -- after having 3 new sets of tires placed on the car (Thank You Tire Force!! Those guys are fantastic!!!) and numerous balance/rotate jobs and alignments. Finally, I took it back to the dealer I purchased the car from -- one state away -- and was without my car for yet another week. They took the car literally apart and found that the spindles were warped -- a part that is not supposed to do that!!. The spindles were replaced, the tires were balanced and rotated and I finally got my car back. That should've been the end of my problems, don't you think? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here it is almost a year later and the same thing is wrong with the car. Guess what? The dealer I bought it from is now giving me the same run around that the other dealer gave me!!! I'm getting "it's the tires.....it's the rotors....." It's BS!!!!!!!!!! The interior of my car shakes so much that anything sitting in the passenger seat gets tossed to the floor. I have had that car aligned so many times that I think I've paid for it twice!!!! I'm sick and tired of it and I can't wait to get rid of it!
I'm seriously thinking of painting 2 huge yellow lemons on the doors and driving it around town so everyone can see it. I just don't understand how Ford can call the Mustang an "American Icon" and have problems like mine. Am I the only sucker out there with a bad Mustang? Was I just the lucky recepient of a bad day at the plant? All I know is that I will NEVER buy another Mustang.....ever.
Thanks for listening,
Melissa
