Hi! We bought a 2002 Explorer in 2002, it was used--they also failed to =
tell us when we questioned them it was a hertz Fleet vehicle. I have a =
huge folder of things that have been replaced but I'll try and make this =
short. Here it goes.
On our 3rd. tranny, replaced drive shaft, torque converter, harness and =
processor and valve body solenoid pack numerous times. 4 X 4 module, =
PCM,shift solenoids both front and rear wheel bearings--the rear =
bearings just disappeared and took out the axle while we were driving =
down a mountain, installed exhaust wrap kit, oh and a harness wrap. Not =
counting how many times the valve body was taken apart. I probably have =
forgotten something. Now this is the best part it's still not repaired, =
Ford has finally said it's unrepairable and we need to live with it. We =
went to arbitration and got a small amount, I didn't want to settle but =
I think the attorney was more interested in his own pocket and told us =
we probably wouldn't win in arbitration. I've written to Ford board of =
Directors and their rep said basically to bad, we bought it used and the =
mileage is high now, that car has been in the shop probably well over 6 =
mths time, and that is probably an underestimate. I also have a report =
by anAutomotive Consulting firm which is quite interesting.
At one time Ford was doing a buyback until they realized we bought it =
used. This has been going on for 3 years they can't fix it, they will =
admit the problems are a little more than normal. If we sold a product =
that didn't work we would be held responsible----Why should we be stuck =
with a vehicle that can't be repaired and we're still making payments on =
it---we put alot of money down because we wanted small payments and have =
it for a long time. We did not get what we paid for.=20
If I had the money I would take out a full page ad or put it on a =
billboard---I want people to hear my story and how Ford treats their =
customer's. At one point we painted the windows with different sayings =
and we had alot people come up to us and tell us their Ford stories---.
Please head me in the right direction------I'm not going to sit still =
and take this, we're stuck with something that can't be repaired!!!!!!!  =
and that is not fair. The Attorney General doesn't even know what to do =
anymore.
