Nuclear Waste

Just a quick idea for nuclear waste: Someone should come up with an inexpensive process for doing the following:

o Compact the waste as much as possible, probably
with an inert material like clay, into very
           dense bricks.

o Load them into a vessel capable of withstanding
extreme pressure and equipped with drilling
           equipment.

o Send the vessel to the bottom of the Pacific ocean
right at the edge of the tectonic plate that is being
driven back into the earth's core.

o The vessel then drills downward until it runs
out of power, burying itself as far down into
the earth's crust as possible, to be driven
even further down by the motion of the earth's
plates, eventually being melted down and reabsorbed
           into the earth's mantle.

How's that sound? I mean, outside of blasting them into space and sending them into the sun (very expensive), this would seem to be a natural method of safe disposal.

The Minority Party

Remember when Jesse ran for president? Y'know what? I'd have voted for him. Yup, if he had stuck it out, I'd have voted for him. Why he didn't get the nomination I don't know. Well, ok, I do know, because, according to the press, he didn't have the numbers behind him in the polls. But I still would have voted for Jesse just because we needed someone new, someone without the usual politicals bills to pay at the country's expense, someone that might take some of the wind out of the sails of those that feel that blacks haven't come that far since the '60's.

Which raises an interesting question: Why isn't there a well-known, well-publicized political party that has as it's candidate for president an experienced black politician? I don't know about you but I'm a bit tired of minorities looking at 200 years of white presidents and bemoaning their inequality in this country. If you put a minority individual into that hallowed position, you remove any perceived obstacles to success from the minds of millions of young people. You remove the perception that whites run this country. You give a crystal clear example to the rest of the world that democracy can, at times, represent everyone equally.

And just so I don't seem to view the races as just white and black, I feel that ANY minority would do. ANYONE that wasn't a white male would fill the bill, although it's my gut reaction that a white woman would fall just short of what's needed. Heck, an asian woman would rock the world's impression of the USA, wouldn't she?

And just so this won't seem like an "anti-white" party, ANYONE can be a member, but for the advancement of minority interests, only minorities would be considered as candidates. Heck, this might even be a natural next step for the NAACP -- from simple political loud-speaker to political party with real muscle. How 'bout it guys?
