Spine Award: Chris Dodd

12/19/2007:   Unlike everyone trying to convince us they have leadership skills, Chris Dodd waded into the battle against the Republican senators backed by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to protect our Constitution. The traitors in Congress have decided to give the phone companies that allowed Bush to tap our domestic calls -- domestic calls, calls from one location in the U.S. to another location in the U.S. -- retroactive immunity for their crimes.

For reasons that are a mystery to the American public, for compensation we can only guess at, Pelosi and Reid have sold your right to privacy to Bush and his anti-Constitution cabal. Chris Dodd has shown us that he is the only person in any party that deserves to be the next President of the United States of America. Where were Clinton and Obama? Where was Edwards? Campaigning, bickering, showboating. Dodd was on the Senate floor kicking ass, filibustering, and dragging the juggernaut to a standstill. And he was amazing, tearing the phone companies a new one, shredding Bush, dressing down all the supporters of the new FISA bill that grants immunity to the phone companies from prosecution or penalty for breaking the law. Dodd is a Real Man, and the other candidates pretending to the office of president should be ashamed and hold their patriotism cheap.

Idiot of the Day: Chris Wallace

12/19/2007:   Faux News anchor and general moron Chris Wallace can't understand why Barack Obama and John Edwards have repeatedly turned down invitations to appear on his show. I think, Chris, that it's due to a) your ill-advised ambush of Bill Clinton that resulted in your getting spanked on national television, and b) the fact that, thanks to that ambush and the subsequent dearth of guests, you now lack any semblance of relevance. You torpedoed yourself. Too bad for you, numb-nuts.

Asinine Quote Of The Month

12/17/2007:   "There are different ways of doing it. It's like swimming — freestyle, backstroke."

-- Horse's ass Kit Bond (R-Mo.), in response to whether or not he thinks waterboarding is considered torture.

Romney: Bush Suck-Up

12/17/2007:   In response to Mike Huckabee's criticism of Bush's foreign policy, Mitt Romney, jabbing his finger at the camera, foamed crazily, "To say that the president is arrogant and has a bunker mentality, that's when he went over the line."

Excuse me?

The president is arrogant. He does have a bunker mentality. He is an elitist, evil, lying, monkey faced rat bastard. Am I over the line for telling the truth?! I think not, and I think Mike Huckabee is an patriot for telling the truth on the emperor and his new clothes.

Not that I like Huckabee -- he's a Reaganesque fundie -- but he struck true, and Romney showed his Bushie colors when he reacted. He will govern like Bush, over-reaching the real and theoretical bounds of executive privilege, using secrecy and lies to confuse the public dialogue, expending our military on useless, distracting, and self-enriching wars, and dragging the United States further away from the moral high ground.

Bush: Athletes "Violating" Their Bodies

12/16/2007:   While haltingly attempting to comment on the baseball steriods scandal, Bush stated that athletes are "violating their bodies."

???

Wow. That sounds horrible. "Violating their bodies." It's a very fundamentalist Christian dogma thing to say, very the-body-is-a-temple view. Not a lot of thought required, just regurgitation of someone else's rhetoric. And, for this Monkey Faced Frat Boy, it's typical.

Bush: Still Thinks You're Stupid

12/13/2007:   In response to growing pressure and mounting evidence to support some portion of the Kyoto Protocol, Bush offered voluntary regulation of carbon emissions.

Voluntary regulation.

Because that approach worked so well for food quality, water quality, toy safety, toxic industrial pollution, engine sulfur emissions, coal mine safety, etc.

Actually, Bush just thinks you're stupid and he doesn't want anything interfering with his family's fortunes in industry and oil.

Secret Service Protect Guiliani's Mistress?!

12/13/2007:   When NBC's Tim Russert, reminding everyone that Guiliani is a known adulterer and general slut, asked Guiliani if a hypothetical presidential mistress would rate the same level of protection provided to Judith, Guiliani's current wife, back when they were cheating on his last wife, Guiliani stammered that a Secret Service detail "would not be appropriate" in the absence of a credible threat. When pressed, he screeched that police, not the former New York City mayor himself, had decided his then-girlfriend Judith Nathan needed publicly-funded security during their extra-marital affair.

"I did not make the judgment, I did not ask for it, Judith didn't particularly want it... But it was done because [police] took the view that it was serious and it had to be done that way."

Yeah, okay. Rudy wasn't trying to impress his chickadee-on-the-side. I'd say Tim earned his paycheck for the next year. I wonder if it takes specially reinforced stitching in his Jockeys to hold that much brass...

There were never any WMDs in Iraq.
No links to Al Qaeda.
No ties to 9/11.
Bush, Cheney, and Condie lied to you.
You ignored the facts.
You re-elected a liar and a murderer by proxy.
But now it's time to show your support for the troops.

Bring them home.

Your Constitution has been violated.
Bush's administration has trampled your liberties.
They lied repeatedly to you and Congress.
They held themselves to be above the law.

Demand a candidate that will fix the Constitution first.

Bush: Liar

12/7/2007:   Man, I just love when Keith Olbermann gets on a tear about Bush. His course is true, his target simple, his weapons few and mastered. He takes no prisoners, shows no mercy. He's the Spartan King Leonidus of political commentary.

Why do I gush? Check this out:

"The pathological presidential liar or an Idiot in Chief..." Wow. And that's before he really gets warmed up.

Flipper Is Not Apologizing

12/7/2007:   Mitt Romney has unveiled the counter punch to being called "Flipper": Just come right out and refuse to apologize.

Did we ask for an apology? Did anyone at all ask Kerry for an apology because he realized that the Iraq War was founded on lies and withdrew his support of it? Would an apology have stopped the Swift Boat Morons from attacking him with more lies? No, of course not.

But rather than look weak when confronted with his radical departures from his positions of only a year ago, Romney strongly refuses to, as he puts it, "apologize."

Mitt, what we want is someone that doesn't don the fashion of the hour. We need someone with solid, stable core values that mirror our own. We need HONESTY, not disguises and stedfast refusals to admit being a Flipper.

Shaolin vs. Buddha

12/7/2007:   Ever run across something that was so danged funny, you just keep coming back to it? Back when YouTube was in its infancy, this was one of the earliest viral videos. I ran across it again the other day, and thought I'd share it:

CIA Cover-up

12/7/2007:   The CIA admitted today that it destroyed tapes recording severe torture of Al Qaeda suspects. General Michael Hayden himself ordered the destruction, stating that, "Were they ever to leak, they would permit identification of your CIA colleagues."

Side note: tapes are transferrable to digital media, where they can be redacted to disguise individuals and then encrypted so there's no chance of leakage. And you can bet the CIA has done exactly that.

No, what Hayden really wanted was for the original, damning evidence destroyed. Period, end of story. And why did they come out with this now? Because the New York Time told them either they could come clean or the NYT would do it for them. Y'know, I long for a day when we can trust our government to hold the high moral ground we assumed of them before Bush took office.
