Lohan Playing Monroe

2/27/2008:   Lindsey, honey, you are not Marilyn Monroe. 'Nuff said.

Bush: Not A Smart Man, Jenny

2/26/2008:   "Republican governors are smart, capable people." No, George, they're not, not if you're a prime example of what a Republican governor is like. You were the governor of Texas, and you run a $6 billion surplus into a multi-billion dollar deficit during your short tenure. You gave the treasury and Texas' natural resources away to your oil buddies, and when you left the education system was broke and the social net programs had been slashed.

"I don't know about you but I'm confident we'll hold the White House in 2008." Um, yes, unless you resign, are impeached, or choke to death on a pretzel, the Republicans will hold the White House through 2008 and up to January 19th, 2009. And then the Democrats will take over, and the massive job of cleaning up your sorry crap will begin.

I know, the Monkey Faced Frat Boy was trying to say that the Republicans would hold on to the White House in the 2008 election. But keep in mind, he was positive the Republicans would sweep the Democrats in the 2006 congressional elections, and now the Dems control both houses. Now if we could just figure out who's controlling Pelosi and Reid...

Idiot.

Nader: What the Heck?

2/26/2008:   In spite of the Green Party's complaints that they don't want Nader, he's decided that he's going to run for President. I guess he's bored. He only got 0.3% of the vote in 2000, and he'll garner less than that this time, but doddering Nader explains that, in comparing candidates like Obama and McCain, he just doesn't see any difference. He also didn't see any different between Gore and Bush. Of course we now know that if Nader had stayed out of the 2000 election, Gore would have edged out Bush in spite of the hanky panky in Florida and we would never have entered Iraq. In fact, since it was Bush that ignored the Clinton administration reports of Al Qaeda's threat and put on ice the on-going program to track down and either kill or trap Osama bin Laden, I think it can be effectively argued that Nader's spoilage of the 2000 election resulted in the deaths of 9/11 and all the "war on terrorism" connected deaths since.

But like Mike Huckabee, Nader obviously has nothing better to do with his time than represent the fringe. He thinks he's keeping politics honest, but the difference between his self-glorifying intent and the results of his actions are the difference, in recent history, between peace and war, between life and death, between good and evil.

Ralph, don't be putz. Stay out of it.

Obama = Kennedy

2/19/2008:   Why will Obama win? Because in a recent poll asking which past president respondents would prefer as the next president, Kennedy (23%) and Reagan (22%) were the top picks. The Monkey Faced Frat Boy (MFFB) was dead last. It's interesting to note that Bill Clinton was #3. I assume that's simply because of Hillary's campaign and his involvement in it. They're getting a lot of bad press right now, some of it in the form of exposed or re-exposed scandals via YouTube.

Kennedy represented change, strength, idealism, and a can-do spirit, everything progressives stand for. Reagan represented elitist economics and military posturing. I can understand why conservative right wing whack jobs liked him.

Hillary doesn't fall into either camp. Unsurprisingly, she's represented by #3 on the list. And since there is no way in hell the American public will choose another Bush-esque fundie conservative moron, Obama is a shoo-in -- if, that is, the DNC can pull its head out of its butt and tell the superdelegates to side with the will of the people.

Useless Gestures

2/14/2008:   White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and former White House lawyer Harriet Miers have been charge with being in contempt of Congress, a serious charge carrying a sentence of 5 years in prison, but the Justice Department has said it will not carry out the sentence. The House vote was 223 to 23, with some Republicans going so far as to walk out. John Boehner (rhymes with "toner") call the Democratic vote "political grandstanding", then did his own political grandstand by joining the walkout. Whatever. Moron.

I'd like to take a moment to point out that, in the spirit of Joe Liebermann, one Democrat, Mr. Henry Cuellar of Texas, voted with the GOP because he's actually a traitorous bastard that supports the wanton violation of the consitution and the flaunting of Congressional orders. I'm guessing he's getting paid off somehow to support Bush's trampling of our rights.

Hillary Getting Shrill

2/14/2008:   "There's a big difference between us -- speeches versus solutions, talk versus action." These are the words of Hillary Clinton, and her sharply negative rhetoric from the unfamiliar position of the underdog is making her sound desperate.

"Speeches don't put food on the table. Speeches don't fill up your tank or fill your prescription or do anything about that stack of bills that keeps you up at night." And earlier in the day, she said, "I am in the solutions business. My opponent is in the promises business."

When the bills on that keep me up at night only do so when I worry about my job being outsourced or given to a H1B visa imported worker when it was Hillary that shouted to a convention of CEOs that she was for eliminating the cap on H1Bs and opposed limits on off-shoring, her words ring hollow. And when was the last time she made a significant amount of noise about the damage that George Bush has done to the Constitution, and how she would work to protect and uphold the Constitution the way George hasn't?

I'm sorry, Mrs. Clinton, but those actions were performed months ago, and you were called on them, and you have never bothered to correct them. Clearly you're comfortable in your role as the champion of corporations. I hear you didn't bother to vote on the version of the FISA bill that telecomm's retroactive immunity. Your inactions speak at least as loudly as your actions.

Please, Mrs. Clinton, just go away.

Your Constitution has been violated.
Bush's administration has trampled your liberties.
They lied repeatedly to you and Congress.
They held themselves to be above the law.

Demand a candidate that will fix the Constitution first.

There were never any WMDs in Iraq.
No links to Al Qaeda.
No ties to 9/11.
Bush, Cheney, and Condie lied to you.
You ignored the facts.
You re-elected a liar and a murderer by proxy.
But now it's time to show your support for the troops.

Bring them home.

MoveOn: The Next Gen Political Party?

2/11/2008:   The Democratic Party is split between Clinton and Obama, but not really. The popular vote has given Obama the majority of the delegates. Clinton's political ties have won her the majority of the superdelegates. The only real split is between what the constituents want and what the party elite want. And anytime the party doesn't successfully represent the people, as the Dems have failed to do as a party thanks to their most prominent members' ambitions and secret plans for the last two years, it is time for a major shake-up.

While I was discussing this with my daughter, it occurred to me that a large portion of Obama's political might and financing has come, of late, from MoveOn.org. They have turned into a political machine that must be respected. And then what naturally followed next was my realization that, if the Dems select Hillary, while I will certainly vote for her over any conservative Republican candidate, even John McCain, I will quite likely go off the rolls after the 2008 election. There will no longer be a party that I can trust to represent me. I don't think I'll be alone. And MoveOn.org is positioned perfectly to catch the disillusioned and disenfranchised Democratic voters on the web. They have the power to restore the public discourse that is lacking in our debate and political advertisement process. They have the power to make the vote matter. We don't need delegates and superdelegates. Superdelegates are the parties public stance that their constituents could be "wrong"; they're a way of awarding power to the big players in the party; they are an elite club in a party that claims to have no elitist leanings. It's a mechanism at once unnecessary and insulting, and I don't think I want to be a part of that anymore.

Democratic Party, ward yourself. Sow disrespect of the popular vote, and you shall reap the whirlwind.

Biofuels Produce CO2? Duh!

2/11/2008:   There was a news article today that declared, in hot glowing letters, the scandal that even the newest, coolest biofuels produce greenhouse gases!!

I kept reading for the "new" part of this "news", but didn't find any. Then I realized, someone out there didn't know that using biofuels meant burning them. And burning stuff is what releases greenhouse gases. That seemed pretty simple to me, but I guess not everyone got that memo -- or took 10th grade science.

Folks, there are two problems with fueling our nation. One is dependence on foreign fuels. Is there *anyone* that doesn't want to shut up that loud mouthed moron running Venezuela? And second is the impact it has on our environment. Turning to biofuels only solves the first problem, especially the biofuels being generated by Vertigro, a company that has figured out how to create enough algae-based oil to fuel the entire nation's needs using about a 10th the area of Arizona. (According to what I heard in an interview with their president, algae systems can generate 100,000 gallons of fuel per acre per year. With corn, the best they can do is 30 to 40 gallons. Nice!)

The alternative is wind, solar, water, and hydrothermal. These are as close to perfectly clean energy systems as we can get. Once the systems are built, there is no further impact on the environment.

Headscarves In Turkey

2/9/2008:   Turkey is starting to lift a ban on women's headscarves in public. The idea was originally was to supress the influence of fundamentalist Islam. Given the fundamentalist whack jobs out there and the way the Koran is written such that broad translations can include extremism, I can understand that. But Muslims are part of the population there, regardless of the law, and the result hasn't been to supress religious expression. Instead, it has suppressed Muslim women. Unable to appear in public with their headscarves, they have elected to not appear at all. They can't work jobs, they can't attend schools and universities.

I applaud the Turkish governments attempts to control extremism, and I also applaud their action to lift suppression of Muslim women. It's a balancing act, and religious oppression isn't the answer.

MSNBC: The New Faux News?

2/9/2008:   Props to Hillary Clinton who has slapped MSNBC anchor David Shuster to the mat for saying that the Clinton campaign has "pimped out" Chelsea to man the phones. Hillary has had to endure a number of nasty jibes and slanders from MSNBC lately, including that right wing tool Chris Matthews, who just recently had to apologize to Hillary for saying that Bill made her career possible by being publicly caught at messing around. Bad enough that you have hacks like Chris Wallace blaming 9/11 on Bill Clinton to his face (and getting royally spanked for it in the same interview -- nice job Bill).

Which has me wondering -- is MSNBC trying to be the next Fox News? Are they so interesting in straying from clean journalism for ratings that they would stoop to that level? It certainly appears so. I just want the facts. If I wanted lurid crap and shock commentary, I'd listen to some moron like Michael Savage. But when I tune into the news -- THE NEWS -- I want to hear what's going on. I don't want to hear snipe, snarky, and sometimes outright vulgar insinuations and spin from my news outlet.

I hear David "Putz" Shuster has been taken off the air and suspended until further notice by MSNBC, and that the Clinton camp won't take his calls. Good for him, and good for Hillary. Be strong, mamma.

Super Tuesday

2/5/2008:   It's Super Tuesday, the big primary push, and I'm going to vote as soon as I get off from work. I'm so freakin' excited! The more I watch Obama and Hillary, the more I like Obama. He's an exciting, thrilling, goosebumps kind of candidate. It's like watching the first man land on the moon. It's like watching the "I Have A Dream" speech for the first time. It's like hearing the Al Green song, "Proud To Be An American." His "Yes We Can" speech is going down in history. It makes you believe that we can be the moral leaders of the world again. It makes you believe that we can trust our president again. It makes you believe that the office of president can again be filled with someone who realizes the office is bigger than the person, that it is to be respected and even revered by the person sitting in that chair. That our Constitution is more than just a piece of paper, that it has an ageless, timeless power and truth that can be resisted for a short time, but cannot be ultimately denied. Obama sometimes seems like an ordinary man, but then he turns on the juice, and you feel the power of the people flowing out of him. It's awe-inspiring.

Political Hit-Men

2/5/2008:   Ralph Nader, political hitman for the Republican Party and, at least officially, leader of the Green Party, announced yesterday that he was going to start the process of entering a bid for president. The Green Party apparently doesn't have any other candidates, but that's not the reason Nader is running. Ignore what he's saying, the only reason he's putting up the "available for candidacy" sign is so the Republicans know they can hire him again to try to reduce the Democrats' chances of taking the White House. Hey, it worked to dilute Democratic Party support in 2000 and 2004 enough for massive voter fraud to work, why not try it again in 2008?

And then there's Ron Paul, the completely silly GOP caboose who wants to abolish the IRS (as though taxes will get paid voluntarily) and the income tax (as though our military machine and social net services will somehow pay for themselves through tariffs). Ron Paul is a joke, and those that support him just don't get it yet. Or maybe they do, and they're in on it, I don't know.

Then there's Mike Gravel. Geez, Mike, you're a smart guy, but you're NOT GOING TO WIN THE NOMINATION. Give it up already.

This Is Why

2/3/2008:   What sets Obama head and shoulders above Hillary Clinton, a full span above all the Republican candidates, and 300 years better than George Bush and his like? Inspiration. Proof:

Wow. More than inspiring. He is already moving an entire nation. He is a leader in a way that George W. Bush will never be and can never understand.

Lame (Duck) President

2/4/2008:   "Two key principles guided the development of my budget -- keeping America safe and ensuring our continued prosperity," Bush said in his budget message to Congress. "As commander in chief, my highest priority is the security of the American people."

Apparently, George thinks his responsibilities, at least the offical and politely acceptable ones, end with "provide for the common defense." Promoting the general welfare went into the trash bin the moment he monkeyed his way through his first oath of office recital. And George's idea of a "more perfect union" is the unregulated union between corporations, specifically those his family profits from, and the government. In other countries, that's referred to as fascism... but I digress. The only "justice" and "blessings of liberty" he wants to secure are for himself and his elitist buddies. He sure doesn't give a crap about your liberty.

Oh, sorry, I guess I should explain: those principles I'm referring to are pulled directly from the preamble to the Constitution; that all-important document that George Bush derogated as "just a piece of paper."

Anyway, Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie wants $3.1 trillion dollars from Congress to further beef up his military toys, taking money from basic services like education and healthcare, while further cutting taxes on himself and his uber-rich elitoid partners, and borrowing more billions from Japan and China.

Bush claims that his budget, if followed through 2012, will eventually balance out. What he doesn't mention is that his projections assume a record growth in the economy that he thinks his trickle-down economics will create, ignoring of course that trickle down "supply side" economics has never once, in the entire history of this nation, ever created substantial growth. It has, instead, resulted in nothing more than rampant income disparity and the decimation of the middle class. A dwindling middle class causes a decrease in savings, lower spending, and always, ALWAYS ends in economic stagnation and overall reduction in the average standard of living.

Does George understand that? Actually, I'm guessing he does. Which leads to a single conclusion: he just doesn't care. He's getting rich, and that's all that matters.

GOD, I'll be glad when this treasonous moron is out of office!!
