Upcoming subjects: War on Drugs over? The party of No 9/21/2009: This is an actual question in the "2009 Future ofAmerican Health Care Survey by the Republican Party", a survey sent out to anyone and everyone registered as a Republican by RNC chairman Michael Steele: "It has been suggested that the government could use voter registration to determine a person's political affiliation, prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system. Does this possibility concern you?" Man, I wish I was just making this up. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! I thought the boogeyman tactics used by Bush, Cheney, and Rove would be kicked to the curb by more stable minds, but NOOOooooo, we have to continue to put up with this kind of rank horse manure from the lying sack of crap Michael Steele and his sack of crap cronies. OH MY FREAKIN' GOD!!! Why is ANYONE a Republican anymore? Okay, kids, listen up: Healthcare won't be rationed. Voter registration won't be used to keep Republicans from getting healthcare. Democrats, by and large, hated Bush, but they're not going to take out that hatred against Republican voters. Hell, we actually feel sorry for you. Bush sucked, and so do the lunatic, racist fringe elements you're dealing with now, but we don't look down on you, we pity you. We wouldn't refuse to treat you if you came in needing medical assistance. At the end of the day, right wing whack jobs aside, we're all Americans, and probably more importantly, we're all humans. Some of us are Christians, but the rest of us aren't going to hold that against them. We are, as a rule, good people. Michael Steele is trying to fire up his whackjob base, and in the process is making his party look like a pack of conspiracy theory morons, but I have faith that his campfire story isn't going to scare anyone except the little kids -- the adults will just grin, shake their heads, and be thoroughly entertained by the reactions Mr. Steele gets from the critical-thinking-impaired. Can you imagine for even a moment what would happen if either party leveraged voter rolls to discriminate against anyone, for anything at all? There wouldn't just be a revolt, we would spiral right up to the edge of civil war. The corporation-loving politicians might find that kind of crisis to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but those in government that truly love our country would try their level best to avoid it. I agree with Nancy Pelosi: the rhetoric right now is out of control, and there are those in Washington fanning the flames, with Michael Steele, Eric Cantor, John Boehner, Michelle Bachman, and Joe Wilson, just to name a few, leading the charge. 9/18/2009: While foaming-at-the-mouth right-wing whackjobs shout down our elected representatives about their hallucinations of what they think their rights are and scream "socialism", "communism", and "nazism" at the top of their lungs without really understanding what those terms mean and how socialism in particular relates to the very programs they all rely on, the American Journal of Public Health released a report yesterday that stated that as many as 45,000 deaths per year in the United States are associated with the lack of health insurance. Let me say that again, because I don't want it to get lost: 45,000 deaths per year are associated with a lack of health insurance. We pool our resources to run our country, to provide resources that we deem necessary for everyone: police, fire, infrastructure, military. Our pooled resources also provide a social safety net that provides an acceptable minimum of food and housing for the poor. Look, the right wing nuts are not going to stop shouting, and they're not going to stop to think, and they're never going to stop to see the other point of view, to learn, to understand, to debate. They are never going to stop being wrong. But they are the minority, and fortunately they do not have the power right now. Democrats, please stand strong and do the right thing. Pass a healthcare bill that includes a public option, and do it now. 9/17/2009: On the 8th anniversary of 9/11, Glenn Beck, holding back crocodile tears, declared: "Let me tell you something. I believe that if it were up to you or me, just regular schmoes in America, the Freedom Tower would have been done years ago. And it wouldn't have been the Freedom Tower; it would have been the Freedom Towers — because we would've built both of these towers back the way they were before! Except we would've built them stronger! We would've built them in a way that they would've resisted attack. And you know what? My guess is they would've been 25 stories taller, with a big, fat 'Come and Try That Again' sign on top." Actually, I'd have simply mounted the world's biggest American flag on top, but Glenn was on a roll... "We would've built it with our bare hands if we had to, because that's what Americans do. When we fail, when we face a crisis, we pull ourselves up and make things better." Yeah! Yeehaw! And then we stand back and marvel at it with a cold beer in one hand, a fat BBQ tri-tip sandwich in the other, surrounded by our friends with southern rock blaring on our truck stereo... "I believe the only reason we haven't built it isn't because of Americans." Wait... what? "It's because we're being held back." We are?! "And who is holding us back?" Who? Who?! "Politicians. Special-interest groups. Political correctness. You name it — everybody but you." ..... Um. (ahem) Actually, Glenn, what's holding it back is the economy that Bush destroyed. There's no money to build it the way it was or any other way for that matter. Bush screwed the American people so hard and so fast for so long that there's almost nothing left. Carefully managed capitalism built those towers, and carefully managed capitalism will build something in the hole left by the fall of those towers, but don't kid yourself: politicians don't have anything to do with rebuilding the World Trade Center. To give the psychopathic, maniacal, deranged. blubbering, and not just a little bit evil Glenn Beck credit, yes, I would personally bankroll the rebulding of the towers, and I'd put up four towers instead of just two, and there would be walkways between the towers for added support, and lights on top beaming straight out into space so bright they'd be visible from the Space Station, and a staggeringly large flag on top visible for miles out to sea, because I actually do think we should make a statement. And that statement is this: What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, and you simply don't have what it takes to kill us all. Terror will not make us shrink; attacks only stiffen our resolve. But to play the same game Hitler did when he blamed all of Germany's problems on the Jews by blaming all of America's problems on some ephemeral image of "special interest groups" and "politicians" is to wield people's ignorance against them. How very GOP of you, Glenn... 9/11/2009: Joe Wilson yelled, "You Lie!" during Obama's address on the floor of the House of Representatives following Obama's statement that illegal immigrants would not be covered under the healthcare bill that is currently being considered by the House. Joe Wilson is himself a liar. He went so far as to acknowledge on Sean "Happy-Clappy-Moron" Hannity's show that, yes, the bill says that illegal aliens will not be covered. He just felt like yelling that because he's just sure that that portion of the bill won't be enforced. Section 246 of H.R. bill 3200, entitled oddly enough, "NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS" (caps in the original), the bill reads, "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credit on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States." So when Liar Joe says he doesn't agree with the President for saying, "There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure that illegal immigrants," Joe either hasn't read the bill or is counting on the American public to not read the bill. I'm not sure how stupid Joe is, but you have to assume that a Congressman is just a bit more intelligent that average to get into office. So how could Joe be this dumb? Joe's price for his intelligence would seem to be the $400,000+ that the healthcare insurance industry has donated to his PAC. The healthcare reform effort amounts to a direct attack on Joe's electability. Not that this excuses sophomoric behavior or rank stupidity. His aides claim he's raised $200,000 since his outburst, not mentioning of course that his opponent in the upcoming election cycle has raised three times that. His defenders say he was just exercising his First Amendment Rights, pretending that the First Amendment protects speech from criticism and backlash.
Come on people. Joe Wilson -- not the good Joe Wilson that called out Bush's lies about yellowcake uranium from Niger -- lying Joe Wilson is just trying to protect his livelihood. He doesn't care about you and me and our healthcare coverage and expenses. He's in it for himself. His outburst was a disrespectful survival tactic, nothing more. |
Your Constitution was violated.
There were never any WMDs in Iraq.
I'm going to leave this up for a while yet. These traitors have not been held accountable for their crimes, and I want to make sure they never quite leave the public eye. Bush and Cheney deserve to be in jail, but even if that justice is never meted out, our nation deserves to have the crimes publicly recognized and measures taken to ensure that such a presidency can never happen again.
9/11/2009: Sarah Palin is not only back to asserting that H.R. 3200 will impose "death panels", but she took Obama's statement, "Add it all up, and the plan I'm proposing will cost around $900 billion over ten years -- less than we have spent on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and less than the tax cuts for the wealthiest few Americans that Congress passed at the beginning of the previous administration," and accused him of demonizing our troops as, "having had too high a price tag." Seriously? Are you kidding me? Who writes this stuff for Quitter Barbie? Come on, can't some one get a line on who informs this bimbo's opinions? She doesn't read, unless you actually believed her when she replied that she reads, "all of them," when asked what periodicals she reads to keep up with current events. 9/11/2009: Stocks are up, foreclosures are way down, and unemployment is stable. You can actually feel the brakes. Obama is turning things around quickly, and the GOP is so burned up about it. They haven't said a thing, letting ClusterFox "News" continue the propagandizing to the right wing koolaid junkies. Of course, they'll say that Obama didn't have to do anything and the market would have corrected itself, and normally I'd agree, but Bush raped our economy and treasury so thoroughly that it would take more than a shaved rabid poodle, much less a Republicant, to sit at the helm. The market was diving straight down. Obama has done a great job so far. 9/11/2009: FINALLY!! It would appear that, rather than fighting an undeclared "war" on an ideology, the White House has regained its sanity and now refers to battling Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations through all possible means with as little collateral loss as possible. No wonder the sun is shining and the birds are singing. It took eight years, but Bush's era is so OVER!! It's a tribute in itself to the people that died in the 9/11/2001 attacks that we are now focusing our troops, intelligence, and policing efforts towards squashing the people that were responsible for the attacks, not running around the Middle East on some asinine "crusade" to destabilize Muslim nations. Thanks you, Mr. Obama. 9/11/2009: Oh, I know, Jean Schmitt is an institution-size, extra cripsy, albeit no-so-fresh, bucket of crazy, and simply calling her a "birther" doesn't do her uniquely funky brand of prune-scarfing insanity justice, but Ms. Schmitt was caught on tape telling a frazzled haired, foaming-at-the-mouth, rabid, right-wing whack-job that she agreed that Obama wasn't really a citizen no matter what the people on TV say...
No, I'm not making this up. There are STILL elected officials that will tell you that Obama's birth certificate means nothing. Ms. Schmitt, and all the other birthers, are simply racists. Period. Nuff said. |
The following people voted against the Constitution, against the Fourth Amendment, against your rights, freedoms, liberties, and protections. A version of the FISA reform bill that grants retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies that broke the law at the president's behest and gives the president the ability to grant immunity without oversight or further authorization, has passed the United States House of Representatives on Friday, June 20th, 2008. These are the people that voted for that measure. Included among them are Democrats that have betrayed their constituencies, including my own Jerry McNerney. Let us not forget these traitors at election time. Full transcript of the bill, "debate", and vote can be found at: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getpage.cgi?position=all&page=H5733&dbname=2008_record. You'll need to flip to about page 11 using the irritating little links at the bottom because apparently no one has notified Congress that PDFs can be more than one page long...
