Subject: 3 Fords, all problems

1978 ford F150, torgue converter tore up at 18,000 miles, on vacation, 200 miles from home. Transmission tore up 36,000 miles. had rebuilt. Transmission tore up again at 72,000 miles. Had rebuilt.

1989 Ford Crown Victoria LTD--- Transmission tore up 72,000 miles, had rebuilt, Power door locks stopped working at about 40,000 miles, could not lock front doors. Back doors would lock but not the front ones. Sound system went out. Would not work. AC tore up. Ford dealership wanted $1150.00 to repair it. Got a private mechanic to do the job for $350.00. This was my wifes car. She now drives a Dodge Caravan and loves it.

1992 F150 Extended cab. Once again Transmission proplems at 60,000 miles. This happened 3 mo. after transmission had been seviced by a Ford dealer. Left window (power) will not work. When in cruise control if you turn your blinker on to change lanes it will knock it out of cruise control. The amazing thing is they (Ford Dealers) cannot tell you what the problem is and want to charge you $50.00/hr.labor to look for and tell you whats wrong before they even start working on it and when they get through it may not be fixed.

Will Ford ever learn to build a transmission that will last over 60-70,000 miles?

Oh! I almost forgot about the paint job on the LTD CrownVic. Paint started coming off at about 3years old. Had to have it repainted

Will I ever learn not to buy a Ford?
