Subject: ford explorer transmission failure
Date: 7/17/2004
In December 2003 my husband and I purchased a previously owned,
low mileage Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer. I was thrilled when we
came across such a deal. It had been kept in the city by the
original owner and had never been off-road, it was as clean as
the day it left the dealership. My thrill soon turned to
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hairpulling,
forehead-throbbing rage! From December 2003 to present (July
2004) the front transmission seal has "blown out" four- count
them- four times! Needless to say I am just a little frustrated.
(I was a lot frustrated until I had a major stroke over this and
now that I'm comatose thanks to Ford, I can only muster a little
frustration.) Seriously though, there should be some level of
accountability from a manufacturer of such crap. I'm just tickled
pink that I DIDN'T spend a whole lot more to buy a brand new one
only to experience the same nightmare that I have read so much
about now. I'll never buy another Ford again! "Made in America"
used to mean quality... I find this all very disheartening.
Thank you for the opportunity to vent some steam!
