Subject: 1997 Ford Ranger

Mr. Grigsby,

       I own a '97 Ford Ranger, and I have had nothing but trouble with it. The rear tire on the passenger side blew out the first week I had the truck;
however, Ford/Firestone wouldn't replace it. Within the first three weeks, I had to replace all the tires for fear of blowout. Later that year, I had to
take the truck to the dealer to fix several electrical malfunctions which caused the door ajar sound to come on at will, even if the key wasn't in the
ignition, and made the overhead light come on and stay on. Just recently, my truck began to sputter and choke down when I applied the brakes
when stopping. I took the vehicle to a mechanic, and he told me this model truck had a recall on an O-Ring in the intake. So, I took my truck to the
dealer where I purchased it, and the dealer told me there wasn't a recall. I spent almost $500 to have them replace the part. Since then, I have been
looking for information about a possible recall. I found a recall for a 1998 Ranger that had the same problem, but I'm not sure if this information will
help me. In addition, I spend a small fortune each week buying gas. If anyone considers buying a Ford, please don't. The hassles will outweigh any
possible benefits.
