Subject: 1999 Ford Escort ZX2

I bought my 1999 Escort ZX2 new and have taken very good care
of it. I planned on keeping the car until at least 100,000
miles. My reasons for buying a new car are that I will not
have to worry about it for a long time - no costly repairs,
etc. This week, I had trouble with my car and took it to my
Ford dealer. They said a band broke in the transmission and
the pump had metal shavings in it and also needs replaced ---
the repairs are about $1800.00. The dealer has been very
helpful and is knocking a few hundred off and has given me a
car to use without charge.

I called Ford Motor Company Customer NON-relationships. They
said that there are no identified issues with this car. I
said you have one now and what are you going to do about it?
They said they would turn the complaint over to their
engineers. PERIOD.

Any advice for me? My car is still at the dealers being
repaired.
