Subject: Steve's 2001 Cobra Mustang
Date:
Hello,
Just wanted to share with you a mustang story that you might
like.
I purchased a 2001 Ford Mustang Cobra used from a dealer about
a year ago.
The cobra was well taken care of and only had 22k miles on it.
About three weeks after I purchased it the car would make a very
loud rattling sound every time I started it in the morning. I
was told by Ford that the noise was the cam chains and it was
normal. Then I noticed my wife start it one moaring and it blew
out a very large puff of blue smoke. It had never done that to
me so I was very surprised. I took the cobra to the local Ford
dealer where they told me that I had one week left on my original
3yr. 36K mile warranty. They started it the next a.m. and
noticed that it did make a rattle when starting up and it did blow
smoke at start up. The said SVT said to replace all valve guide
seals and cam chain tensionars. They did that and the noise went
away but the smoke didn’t. I was really pissed. This car was my
dream car that I could not have until I was in my 30’s. (I made
more money in my 30’s and was old enough to be able to afford
insurance) After a very long story and threating lawyers an all,
Ford did give me a new motor. But wait, after 600mi. the new
motor blew out smoke at start up too! I almost got sick at the
sight. Trust me it was not just the brake in time. Ford said
that the new motor should not blow out blue smoke at all! So I
sold that darn piece of crap and I now own a Nissan Titan. That
is my sad story and I hate Fords now…..
