My 96 Ranger 4x4 had the transmission and transfer case overhauled less than two years and 20,000 miles after I bought it new. Now, less than two years and 40,000 miles after THAT, it is once again at the dealership. THEY say it's the transfer case. THEY also say they never worked on the transfer case. (Which they did according to the invoice I still have.) The two independant mechanics who looked at it prior to the dealership says it was the transmission. Ford wants me to pay $1400 to have the t-case rebuilt. Is this a case of double billing? Does anyone have any advice. I will be taking this to small claims court if I am not satisfied with the outcome. Also I will never buy Ford again.
