My 2001 Expedition has 60,000 miles and the paint is peeling off the hood.  
I was told that they manufactured the hood out of aluminum to get in under a 
certain weight to pass federal fuel efficiency laws.  The paint has oxidized 
and peeled away from the aluminum hood.  It is not wear and tear.
My impression at the dealership and the speed with which it was assesseed, 
is that this is happeing ALOT on both the Ford Expedition and Ford F150.
Naturally I was told by "Customer Assistance"- an oxymoron if ever - that it 
wasn't covered under the warranty.  It is not a warranty issue, but a defect 
in design and manufacture.  I was wondering if any other owners were 
experiencing the same problem.
