I had a 88 ford wagon that I bought new. I had trouble with
everything from the seat belts to the windows leaking. My main
problem though was with the transmission, you could pull out in
neutral and it felt like someone hit it with a sledge hammer when the
gears changed. I contacted the dealer and after no luck finally
called Detroit. They told me quote " It would cost to much money for
ford to recall my car even though the transmission was defective from
the factory, along with all other cars that used that transmission.
Since their was therefore no recall I would have to be responsible
for the cost of replacing the transmission if I so desired. Now this
car was less than two years old and had three years along with an
extended warranty on it. And trust me they dont get any better any
farther up the line. I have had just as much bad luck and SERVICE
from their trucks also. Therefore now I only drive GM products, at
least on the rare occasion something goes wrong they are quick to fix
it. I have only had to call Detroit once on the twelve GM vehicles I
have owned and they settled it to my satisfaction. But ford will
never see another penney of my money, I will drive a Yugo first.
